Abstract Morphological Investigation with Multidetector Computed Tomography Angiography Method of Femoral Artery Variations. Student's Surname and Name: TURAN Bilal Adviser of Thesis: Prof. Dr. M. Cudi TUNCER Department: Medicine Anatomy Aim: This study aimed to analyze the anatomy of femoral artery (FA), deep femoral artery (DFA), medial circumflex femoral artery (MCFA), and lateral circumflex femoral artery (LCFA), which is necessary for both clinical and surgical applications, based on multidetector computed tomography images (MDCT). In this context, it was aimed to determine the variations of vessel patterns and various morphometric measurements. Materials and Methods: The study is a retrospective study obtained from the database of Dicle University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Radiology. A total of 800 femoral artery MDCT angiography images of 400 individuals, 302 (%75.5) male and 98 (%24.5) female, were examined and included in the study. The measurements in the study were evaluated by making appropriate statistical analyzes. Results: FA and its branches were found to have many types of variation. In the study, the type of variation in which the MCFA originated directly from the FA(%24,87) and the FA in the form of a common truncus with the DFA (%21,61) was detected at the highest rates. DFA mostly originated from the posterolateral of the FA (%53). Most of the FA variations were found to be unilateral (%40,12). Conclusion: It was concluded that knowing the important and common variations of FA, DFA, MCFA, LCFA will help make informed decisions during invasive and non invasive procedures in the femoral region.
