Abstract (EN)

Diyarbakır was one of the most important cities of Hısnıkeyfâ Artuqid which is an important branch of the Artuqid Principality founded after the Battle of Malazgirt. Diyarbakır became an important place not only in the political field but also in economic, social, architectural, scientific and cultural fields during the Artuqid rule. The city achieved economic prosperity during this period as the Artuqid rulers reduced taxes and increased production so that the people could live in peace. The rulers' fair treatment of non-Muslim peoples in political and economic matters ensured unity and solidarity in the city's social sphere. The works built during this period left a lasting impact on the formation of today's Diyarbakır city identity. During the Artuqid period, the city was made prosperous with the mosques, madrasahs, bastions and bridges built in the city. Diyarbakır became an important center in terms of science during this period thanks to the rulers' emphasis on science and protection of scholars. With Cezeri serving in the Diyarbakır Artuqid Palace for twenty-five years and the rulers showing great respect to scholars regardless of their religious beliefs, the city became one of the important centers of science of the period. The Artuqid rule in Diyarbakır ended when Timur plundered and captured the city.
