Analysis of agricultural extension services provided by Adana Directions of Agriculture Low Seyhan Plain

In this regard, the information needs of farmers in LowSeyhan Plain, their evaluation of the extension services provided by Adana Directorates ofAgriculture are identified. Besides the professional efficiency, needs, organizational problemsof extension officers, the frequency, quality of the extension services, and the methods used inextension services are identified.Research results suggest that the most important information sources of farmers aboutplant production in Low Seyhan Plain are seed and chemical companies, neighbour farmers,private agriculture professionals. Research results also suggest that the most importantinformation sources of farmers about animal pruduction are neighbour farmers, privateveterinaries, and seed and chemical companies. Results also suggest that only 19% of farmersreceived information about plant production and only 8% of the farmers received informationabout animal production from the Adana Directorates of Agriculture extension officers duringthe last five years. On the other hand, research results suggest that Adana Directorates ofAgriculture extension officers believe that they are efficiency in professional terms, butbecause of the bureaucratic problems, resource scarcity, and the financial and marketingproblems of the farmers the extension services are not efficient enough.Key Words: Agricultural Extension, Analysis of Extension Services, LowSeyhan Plain, Agricultural Extension Officer
