Abstract (EN)

The concept of tragedy has been carried from life to the field of art since the ancient Greek tragedies, revealing the close bond that humanity has established between life and art. With the modern periods, new perspectives are articulated to the frame of meaning in the narrative literature on tragedy. Perspective that continues to exist even if the understanding of art changes with periods and experiences; It is humanity's always attempting to seek and question justice. The thematic pattern framework of the tragedy gains meaning especially in line with certain themes centered on the search for justice. The Hero's Journey, which has been moved to the field of cinema starting from myths and tragedies, takes place within the framework of this thematic meaning in the context of tragedy. In this study, which aims to reveal how the pattern of tragedy is established in Asghar Farhadi's cinema, answers are sought to questions about the establishment of tragedy through themes in the plot. For this purpose, in the first stage in the Findings and Interpretation Section; By using the Hero's Journey Model, the plot analysis of the films forming the sample was made. In the second stage; The themes of tragedy, which are explained in detail in the Literature Section, were coded within the plot analysis text by means of the MAXQDA 2020 Qualitative Data Analysis Program and thematic analysis was applied. In this context, the pattern of tragedy in Asghar Farhadi's cinema has been interpreted through the findings obtained in line with a holistic analysis consisting of two stages.
