Abstract (EN)

This thesis includes experimental investigation of building materials such as mortars and bricks used in the ancient city of Aspendos in Antalya. Various mortar and brick samples were taken from the Turkish bath, aqueduct and fountain in Aspendos. Physical (unit weight, water absorption by mass, water absorption by volume, specific gravity, complexity, porosity), chemical (acid loss and sieve analysis, water soluble salt analysis, pH and conductivity measurements, protein and oil analysis, pozzolanic activity) analysis), mechanical (compressive strength, point loading strength, bending tensile strength, ultrasound) test, thermal analysis (TGA / DTA), mineralogical (x-ray diffraction (XRD)), petrographic (optical microscope and electron scanning microscope - energy dissipation) spectrometer (SEM / EDX)) and color analysis. The data obtained from these experiments enable determination of properties such as physical properties, strength, quality, classification, mineralogical components of the samples. These data may guide the restoration and rehabilitation issues that will be applied to strengthen the historical structures in the future studies.
