Abstract (EN)

Acute myocardial infarction is the death of heart muscle tissue due toprolonged lack of blood and oxygen without medical intervention. It is a critical health condition requiring standardized nursing care and a qualified nurse ready. The study aims to assess nurses' knowledge regarding the nursing management of patients with acute myocardial infarction in Al-Diwaniyah city, Iraq. Moreover, finding the relationship between nurses' knowledge and demographic characteristics. A descriptive study was conducted on a nonprobability, purposive sample in Al-Diwaniyah city, which included 141 nurses working in Al-Diwaniyah Teaching Hospital and the Specialized Center for Catheterization and Cardiothoracic Surgery for the period between April 1- 2022 and July 1- 2022. The majority, 60.3%, are of the age group 22-27 years; the most sample, 61.7%, were female, and 38.3% were from nursing institutes, compared to 31.9% from the College of Nursing and 27% of nursingschool , in addition to 2.8% of the Postgraduate in nursing, and 62.4%of the nurses had less than five years of experience in nursing, only 13.5% of them obtained a training course. The results of the present study showed that the nurses knowledge regarding the nursing management of patients with acute myocardial infarction was fair, with an average score of 1.56.The nurses' intervention is better whenever the nurse has a higher educational level, experience in nursing, and training courses, while there was no difference in providing nursing care by the nurse, whether male or female
