Assessment primary school teacher knowledge toward mumps diseases at diwaniya city

Background: Mumps is an acute disease caused by a single serotype virus (paramyxovirus) that primarily affects adolescents and children. Mumps is a contagious disease that can be spread through saliva Objective: Determine primary school teachers' knowledge about Mumps diseases. Because schools play such an essential role in improving children's and society's health, we can raise knowledge of mumps in schools to treat the condition better and prevent its transmission. Methods: From January 14 to April 30, 2022, a descriptive study was conducted in 40 primary schools in Al-Diwaniyah to assess teachers' knowledge about mumps. The sample included 355 male and female teachers with at least one year of experience. Results: The results of the research showed that the majority of the teachers who participated in the study sample were aged 41 and over, with a percentage of (40.8%), The study also showed that the number of female participants in the study sample is more than males, at a rate of (56.9%), The study also showed a relationship between the level of knowledge of teachers, the training course and the number of years of experience. Conclusion: In general, the results of teachers' evaluation of mumps in schools indicate a poor level of general knowledge; they need an intensive educational program and training courses to increase teachers' awareness and knowledge about mumps disease Key Words: Assessment, Primary School, Teachers, Mumps, Knowledge
