Determination of strength and durability performance of eco-efficient concrete produced with marble waste powder and waste tire aggregate

In this study, it is aimed to efficiently consume waste marble powder, which is an important problem in environmental pollution of mining sector and waste tires, which is an important problem in environmental pollution of automotive sector. One of the most convenient ways to achieve this goal economically is to produce eco-efficient concrete using waste marble powder and waste tires. The fresh and hardened properties of the concretes produced using these waste materials must be suitable for certain conditions. The aim of this study is to produce eco-efficient concretes by using waste marble powder and waste tire aggregates together and to determine the effects of these waste materials on the workability of fresh concrete and the strength of hardened concrete. This study was carried out in two basic steps. In the first step experiments, eco-efficient concretes with different mixing ratios were produced by using waste marble powder. When producing eco-efficient concrete, 0% to 50% marble powders were replaced with sand by volume. Both cement dosage and aggregate granulometries were used at different values in the produced concrete. Thus, it is aimed to determine the most effective parameters on machinability and strength. Fresh and hardened concrete properties of eco-efficient concrete produced were determined. In the second step experiments, waste marble powder and waste tire aggregate were used together to produce eco-efficient concrete with different mixing ratios. The aim of this study is to produce eco-efficient concrete by using waste marble powder and waste tire aggregate and to determine the effect of this waste material on fresh concrete properties, strength and durability of hardened concrete. It is also used here in fly ash, a pozzolanic waste material. Fresh and hardened concrete properties of eco-efficient concrete produced were determined. The test results were analyzed by reaction surface method and two mathematical models were developed. Mixture calculations can be made with these methods which is Model-1 and Model-2. As a result, it was found that it is possible to produce eco-efficient concrete using only marble powder or using marble powder, waste tire aggregate and fly ash. In addition, two different mixture calculation methods have been developed in order to spread the use of these concrete types.
