Abstract (EN)

In this study, the adsorption of synthetic textile dyes such as Basic Blue 41 (BB41) and Reactive Black 5 (RB5) on to Eucalyptus camaldulensis bark has been studied in batch and continue fixed bed column systems. Effects of initial dye concentreation, adsorbent particle size and pH have been investigated in batch studies. The constants of Langmuir and Freundlich adsorpiton isotherms have been determined using the adsorption data. Adsorption tests showed that adsorption of BB41 by Eucalyptus camaldulensis is more effective than the adsorption of RB5 dye Investigation of the effect of pH medium showed that adsorption was more effective in pH 2 for RB5 and pH 6 for BB41. The model that describes the adsorpiton kinetics bestly, was found as the pseudo second order model. A labarotary scale column, containing 1-2 mm diameter adsorbent particle size of Eucalyptus camaldulensis bark was used in fixed bed stuidies. Effects of bed depth and initial dye concentration have been investigated. The breakthrough data from column studies were described by Bohart-Adams model. According to the results of column studies the breakthrough volume at the breakthrough point (Ct/C0 = 0,1) was increased with the increasing of bed depth and decreased with the increasing of intial dye concentration.
