Multidimensional evaluation of occupational health and safety knowledge level perception of track and field athletes

Sports success requires great effort and preparation. There are factors that negatively affect success during training and competition and cause job loss. In this study, it was aimed to reduce the factors, to determine the occupational health and safety perception levels of athletes and to evaluate them multidimensionally. It was tried to reveal whether the perception levels of the athletes in terms of occupational health and safety differ in terms of various demographic variables. The research has a descriptive nature and was carried out according to the scanning model. The universe of the research is the licensed athletes dealing with the athletics branch throughout Turkey, and a total of 92 athletes, 39 women and 53 men, who voluntarily supported our study, constituted the sample of our study. The sample group was reached by easy sampling method. Personal information form and athlete's occupational health and safety questionnaire prepared by the researcher were used as data collection tools. In the Personal Information form; In order to determine the demographic characteristics of the participants, questions including age, gender, education, marital status, years of licensed sportsmanship and weekly training periods were included. Athlete Occupational Health and Safety Questionnaire; It was prepared by the researcher and consisted of a total of 50 questions, 46 and 4 open-ended, in 5-point likert style. The research was carried out between 15 February 2023 and 15 April 2023. The data obtained from the questionnaires were analyzed with the SPSS package program. The answers given by the participants to the questions were tabulated as frequency and percentage. As a result of the research, it has been determined that the perception of occupational health and safety in athletes is low, the majority of them do not receive training on OHS and the issue is not taken into account sufficiently in athletics tracks.
