Convenience of the vocational and technical high school system in Turkey to Europe Union

The aim of this research study is to determine the problems of the vocationaland technical high schools for automotive under the National Education Ministry inTurkey and the level of the convenience of the these high schools to Europe Union tobase on the outcomes of the research and litterateur review.The universe of this research study which is made according to surveillancemodel is made up of 1478 administrators and technical teachers specialised onautomotive branch and teaching at the 124 automotive vocational and technical highschools in Turkey as well as managers, experts, technicians who work at theautomotive services registered to zmir Commerce Chamber under the 59/B class.The exemplification of the research is made up of 718 administrators and technicalteachers specialised on automotive branch in 32 vocational and technical highschools in 21 provinces and 250 managers, experts, and technicians who work at the57 automotive services in zmir.In this research, two questionnaires were used in order to identify theproblems. One of the questionnaires was answered by administrators and technicalteachers who work at the schools, and the other was answered by managers, expertsand technicians who work at the automotive services. In addition, the vocational andtechnical education system of Europe Union has been studied by means of litterateurreview and based on the practices of the some countries in Europe Union and wehave tried to define the level of the convenience of the vocational and technical highschools for automotive in Turkey to the criteria of Europe Union using the data aboutproblems.According to the results of this research study, administrators and technicalteachers working at the high schools and managers, experts, technicians working atthe automotive sector think that concerned with the automotive vocational andtechnical high schools:1. Professional competences of the graduates are not appropriate to the needsof the sector,2. The level of the effectiveness is low,3. There are problems in organization and collaboration with the corporationsin the sector,4. They are not well-administered.When the vocational and technical high schools for automotive in Turkey hasbeen evaluated in general, these high schools have problems of accordance to thecriteria of Europe Union with respect to ?professional competence of theirgraduates?, ?the level of the effectiveness?, ?organizations? and ?administrationprocess?.
