Localisation and regionalization policies of Turkey in integration process to the European Union

The aim of this study titled as ?Localisation and Regionalisation Policies of Turkey during the Integration Process to the European Union? is to state how the local and regional policies of Turkey, whose membership is on the agenda, will be affected by the local authorities applications in the European Union, which set out with the economic and common defence concerns or reasons mostly in 1950's, that form into a Political Union by Treaty of Maastricht in 1992.Regional Administrations which arise as the results of both the globalisation process on the localisation effects and each country has its own characteristic economic, political, managerial and cultural conditions and today they are important points of the EU. As long as the EU proceeds towards a political union, the authority sharing has become significant among the states and sub-states administrative and political institutions. Through the agency of them, the principle of subsidiarities expressed in the Treaty of Maastricht and Committee of the Regions was formed. By this way, EU has restructural organization with three-stages namely union, nation states and regions.During the membership process of Turkey to the EU, the administrative and economic reasons, such as, requirement for the development of country, abolishment of the regional imbalances etc?, these conditions could be obligatory to regionalise for the growth of country. This study is foreseen that the local and regional administrations could be formed by means of the improvement of administrative and economic structure of our Country as a method. The success of small-middle sized advancement projects like as ? Sustainable Rural Development Project for Yuntdagı Region (YKP),? applied in many parts of the country could point out the necessity of regionalisation in Turkey.Turkey as a member of European Council and possess the process of full membership to the EU, the importance of democratic autonomous local administrations that would be beneficial for the country is never undeniable.. The necessary legislative formalities should be put into practice urgently in Turkey during the membership process to the EU for the sake of more effective and more democratic local administrations in all circumstances.
