Abstract (EN)

Nowadays, within the framework of the policies of International Maritime Organisation(IMO) and European Union, standards and requirements relevant to Shipping and Port State Control, are specified and legislated, in this way it is aimed to the ships complying with these regulations, minimization of the pollution from the ships, safe and secure marine transportation.On the way of EU Memberships, Turkey has to adapt it?s legislation.Undersecretariat of Maritime Affairs, a public authority, which sets the goals about maritime issues, regulates and controls, from 2003 until today with its works aimed to the compliance with the EU makes progress and on this way it will go on it?s works.In this study; it is mentioned maritime safety and port state control at Europe and analized of the positioning of Turkey in Port State Control during the European Union compliance process.
