Abstract (EN)
People have migrated from one place to another, forcibly or voluntarily, due to political, social, economic and cultural reasons, throughout the history. During World War II, despite the benefits of mechanization in the industrial sector in Germany and all of Europe, there was a great need for workers. This period, which coincided with a difficult period in the Turkish economy, was seen as an opportunity for workers demanded by Germany. On October 30, 1961, a protocol was signed with Germany to send workers. This situation brought about mass labor migration and ensured that this migration would continue in the following period. In the early stages, most of the people who participated in this migration were men. Until 1963, only ten percent of the workers who went to Germany were women. This situation caused women to lag behind the migration rather than be active in the migration process. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the problems of women who were left behind after labor migration.
