European Public Prosecutor's office: Its structure, function and evaluation of its place in the European area of justice

This thesis examines the structure, functions, and role of the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) within the justice system of the European Union. EPPO was established to combat cross-border financial crimes among European Union member states and operates in cooperation with national legal systems. The study addresses the establishment process of EPPO, its legal foundations, scope of duties, and organizational structure. The aim of the thesis is to evaluate EPPO's role in the European area of justice and to highlight its contributions to the EU justice system and its effectiveness in combating cross-border crimes. The thesis analyzes the legal basis of EPPO and its interactions with the criminal law systems of member states, along with the challenges arising in this context. Additionally, EPPO's operational capacity, its cooperation with national prosecutorial authorities, and the broader European impacts of this cooperation are detailed. The study employs a qualitative research method by analyzing relevant legal texts and documents. The establishment of EPPO and its influence on legal and judicial cooperation in Europe, as well as its effectiveness in fighting cross-border crime, are also evaluated. In conclusion, it is found that EPPO is a significant actor within the legal framework of the European Union and has initiated a new era in the fight against cross-border crimes.
