Abstract (EN)

Nowadays, energy demand and the number of motor vehicles all over the world are increasing day by day. Worldwide, most of especially commercial energy needs are provided by the use of oil. Petroleum is mostly used as fuel in motor vehicles. In addition, the world oil reserves are rapidly depleting depending on overuse. For these reasons, researchers have gone to search for alternative fuels that are important for use in motor vehicles. There are many researches and studies on biodiesel obtained from vegetable or animal oils. Diesel fuels have an important role in the country's economy because of their wide use. Because diesel engines have bursts of combustion, they operate loudly and vibrate. Noise and vibration emissions caused by the combustion process in the engine cause long and short time negative effects on the living. The properties of fuels affect noise and vibration considerably in diesel engines. In this study, the effects of standard diesel fuel and sunflower oil methyl ester (Biodiesel) mixtures on the noise and vibration emissions of a single-cylinder diesel engine have been experimentally investigated. Experiments were carried out under full load and at different engine speeds with sunflower oil methyl ester fuels added to standard diesel fuel at 15 % and 30 % by volume. As the ratio of sunflower oil methyl ester and standard diesel fuel mixture increased, noise and vibration emissions decreased.
