Abstract (EN)

In this study, the factors affecting the formation of the ideas of Ayn Rand, who is a writer and philosopher, the basic concepts and thoughts she studied were discussed and evaluated. Ethics in Objectivism, founded by Ayn Rand, is a tool that leads to obtaining correct goals. The aim of the actions shaped in line with the moral ground is to reach happiness. Advocating an anti-collectivist view, Rand argued that individual benefit should be prioritized over social benefit. As a result of these ideas, she accepted rational egoism as a virtue against altruism. In the rational egoism he advocates, it is argued that the most logical way to achieve happiness can be reached by taking care of one's own interests. But unlike Rand, in our thesis, psychological egoism, which is the view that a person does every action for his own benefit, has been defended. The criterion that determines the limit of rationality in rational egoism is based on living in accordance with human nature. In our study, it was deemed appropriate to include the Stoic philosophy in order to deal with the standard of conformity with nature in detail and at the same time to compare the aspects that we have similarity with Ayn Rand's philosophy. Rand bases life and human as the value standard in his philosophy of objectivism. However, we believe that Rand's philosophy is unfounded as he is insufficient in terms of the meaning he offers to these concepts and does not promise them anything about the sanction that motivates people to moral action. Our thesis has re-examined the problem of sanction and moral purpose of human moral action.
