The effects of education given to father-to-DADS on daily care of the BABY and paternal attachment on father-infant attachment

This research was carried out experimentally to examine the effect of the training given to fathers-to-be whose spouse is in the third trimester of pregnancy and expected to give birth in a healthy way, on issues such as bonding with the baby and spending quality time with the baby. daily care of the baby before, at the time of birth and after birth. The data of the study were collected in Afşin State Hospital and Elbistan State Hospital affiliated to Kahramanmaraş Provincial Health Directorate between the period of 5.1.2021-10.10.2021. The research was conducted by interviewing 86 fathers-tobe. The study was conducted using the Father-Infant Attachment Scale, which is a validity-reliability scale in Turkey, and the study was completed with a total of 81 fathers in formed in 2 groups as experiment and control by randomization method. 41 fathers in the experimental group were given 3 trainings in total, before birth, in the third trimester of their spouses, at the time of the birth and after the birth. These trainings were given on attachment status, care of the baby and spending quality time with the child. 40 fathers in the control group were not given any training during the study. Pre-test and post-test were applied to both groups and the effect of the training was examined. After the statistical analyzes, it was determined that the groups were similar in terms of sociodemographic characteristics and that the groups were homogeneous and independent. The post-test scores of the fathers who received training in the sub-dimensions of "Patience and tolerance", "Pleasure in interaction" and "Love and pride" were significantly higher than those who did not receive any training (p<0.05). (p<0.05). It was accepted that the training given to fathers-to-be about daily care of the baby and father-infant attachment has an effect on father-infant attachment (H1 hypothesis) As a result, it has been determined that the training given to fathers has a positive and increasing effect on father-infant attachment. Pediatric nurses should train fathers on father-infant bonding and ensure that they take an active role.
