Abstract (EN)
The places of Bağbaşı and Serdarlı which are the topic of the study are connected to Turtumofficially, the district of Erzurum. Although the city centre of Erzurum to which these are connected offcially is located in the Eastren Anatolia, the settlement of the city centre, Tortum and Bağbaşı and Serdarlı take place in the East Black Sea region of the Black Sea Region. In the study, the geographical variations which the altitude difference created in the two settlements which are rather close to eachother (20 km) were tried to be explained. The altitude difference of nearly 450 metres causes certan differences such as settlement, dwelling and economical practices in adition to geographical such as climate, flora. This situation through literature scanning, field studies, interviews, prepared graphics and the created maps by using CBS techniques was tried to be presented after analyzing the differences via a analitical approach. At the end of the study, the differences were found as a result of the altitude in the two settlements located in the same valley and having the same geographical form and climate. These are especially the differences affecting the places economically. Depending on the climate of the altitude, the difference in the economical events can be seen drastically. In the study fields of Serdarlı, as the average altitude is high (1750), the weather is not warm enough for agriculture. However, Bağbaşı is at the lower altitude (1300), so agriculture has an important place in this area.Neverthe Serdarlı has vast fields, so this makes it a suitable place for stockbreeding. When compared to Bağbaşı, the cold climate because of the high altitude causes the grass to be green for a long tim, but it affects the agriculture negatively because it puts the vegatation 20 days earlier when compared to Bağbaşı.
