The relationship between job satisfaction of preschool teachers and cultural leadership behaviors of independent kindergarten and primary school principals

Abstract (EN)

It is aimed with this research to be investigated cultural leadership behaviors of independent kindergarten and the primary school principals with the preschool teachers' job satisfaction levels of those working in schools, to be discussed regarding leadership behaviors of principals and job satisfaction levels of teachers in terms of some variant (gender, age, education level, industry, service time) , whether differences between kindergarten and the primary school principals perceptions of these variables, to be identified the relationship between leadership behaviors of principals and teachers' job satisfaction.The research is model of general screening. The research has been applied to the 383 pre-school teachers who work at 20 kindergarten and 92 primary school within the boundaries of the central district of Izmir in the 2009-2010 academic year. Two scales which have been called "Cultural Leadership Inventory" and "Job Satisfaction Scale" were used to collect data of the research. SPSS 17.00 statistical package programme was used for data analysis at the research. The frequency and percentage, average, standard deviation, the Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal-Wallis H test and Brown Spearman Brown Rank Difference Correlation Coefficient were used to analyze of research data.According to survey results, perceptions of the arithmetic mean is higher regarding the cultural leadership behaviour and job satisfaction of school principals for pre-school teachers who serve independent kindergarten according to pre-school teachers who serve in primary school. Regarding the level of cultural leadership behaviours of school principals performing that teachers of independent kindergarten opinions are showing discrepancy in terms of service time but no significant discrepancy in terms of gender,age,education level and branch variables. The perception of Preschool teachers who serve at primary school no show discrepancy in terms of gender, age,education level,branch and service time variables regarding the level of cultural leadership behaviours of school principals. Job satisfaction perception of preschool teachers who work kindergarten is higher than teachers who work at primary school. When the perception of kindergarten teachers? job satisfaction shows the discrepancy in terms of service time variable, not shows any discrepancy in terms of gender, age, education level and branch variables. The perception of preschool teachers who serve at primary school no show discrepancy in terms of age, gender, education level ,branch and service times variables regarding job satisfaction. The perception of independent kindergarten and primary school preschool teachers shows the discrepancy regarding the cultural leadership behaviour and job satisfaction of school principals according to type school which teachers work. The perception about the cultural leadership behaviour and job satisfaction of school principals is higher for Preschool teachers who work at the independent Kindergarten rather than preschool teachers who work at the primary school. positive and significant correlation was found between cultural leadership behaviours of school principals and job satisfaction of preschool teachers.
