Abstract (EN)

This study aimed to determine the effect of re-ensiling and the use of microbial inoculants andı organic acids on the quality of corn silage. The research material consisted of 2nd crop corn (DKC6777) opened in April. Corn silage opened on the 150th day of the fermentation period was divided into 3 treatment groups. Treatment groups;1-Control, 2- Lactobacillus buchneri (LB) 3- Organic Acid (OA). After the addition of additives, the silages were exposed to oxygen for 0, 6, 12 and 24 hours. After this process, approximately 500 g of samples were placed in plastic bags and re-ensilaged. A total of 60 packages, five for each group, were allowed to ferment for 60 days in laboratory conditions. All silages were sampled for chemical and microbiological analyses on day 60 after ensiling. At the end of the ensiling period, silages were subjected to an aerobic stability test for 7 days. As a result, organic acid added to the re-ensiling corn silage increased decreased the pH, water soluble carbohydrates values, ammonia nitrogen, butyric acid and propionic acid the silages, while decreasing the dry matter, dry matter losses. However, the silage preservative showed high antibacterial activity, decreased the yeast counts and CO2 production of the silages during the 7-day aerobic period and improved their aerobic stability.
