Özet (EN)

Two phased applied geophysical and soil drilling works on the ground belonging to Balçova, Güzelbahçe, and Mavişehir stations, corresponding to the alluvial unit geologically, among the 16 Strong Ground Motion Stations installed with the aim of investigating the İzmir Metropolitan area as regards to the earthquake and earthquake risks within the TÜBİTAK project numbered 106G159, constitute the scope of this thesis.Within this context, with the aim of investigating lateral and vertical properties of the soil characteristics, 1 drilling well, 1 profile of resistivity application, 1 profile of resistivity tomography, 1 point micro-tremor, and 1 profile of MASW measurements at Balçova, Güzelbahçe, and Mavişehir stations were taken in the first phase. In the second phase, 3 profiles of resistivity tomographies, 4 profiles of MASW measurements, and micro-tremor measurements at a total of 68 points were taken in Balçova station; 6 profiles of MASW measurements and micro-tremor measurements at a total of 30 points were taken in Güzelbahçe station whereas 4 profiles of resistivity tomopraghies, 4 profiles of MASW measurements, and micro-tremor measurements at a total of 21 points were taken in Mavişehir station. Furthermore, MASW measurements were obtained for 8 N-S directional profiles in the region between Balçova and Güzelbahçe stations. The geophysical results obtained were evaluated along with the results of the soil drilling works; and since it is determined that soil types and structural characteristics could display sudden variations, even in exceptionally short intervals (10m ? 100 m), towards X, Y, and Z directions especially on the accumulation areas.
