Rehabilitation of fishery shelters

The fisheries sector in Turkey has a low share in the total agriculture despite it has a great potential with different ecological properties, dams, lakes and ponds, in increasing number every day.In this study, possible infrastructure rehabilitation works have been assessed in order to increase the share of fisheries by rehabilitating the fishery shelters. An overall assessment of the fishery in the world and our country has been put forth, the relevant legislation and specifications of fishery shelters have been referred, collected data that shows the current situation of the fishery shelters in Turkey has been given, and the four fishery shelters in Aegean Region has been examined in detail. Then, the needs, that the fishery shelters have to be accordant with the standards in the current legislation and specifications, have been presented. And finally, a comparison work has been conducted between an average estimated rehabilitation cost and the total budget of the fisheries sector.
