Abstract (EN)

With the "Payment Services Directive 2", referred to as PSD2 in the financial sector in 2016, and the transition of 9 major banks operating in the UK to open banking practices in the same year, open banking practices have gained great importance in banking sector. Open banking applications refer to the sharing of bank customer data with banks and non-bank FinTech companies using 3rd party applications. While the banking sector was previously a closed system, but with open banking sharing customer data with other banks and FinTech companies is a revolution for the banking sector. Of course, banks need customer permission to ensure this sharing. In other words, banks cannot share data without customer permission. Therefore, customers need to keep up with this radical change, accept and adopt this digital innovation. The aim of this thesis is to investigate the factors affecting the intention to use open banking in banks and to make recommendations for future research on open banking based on the research results. For this purpose, the studies in the national and international literature on the factors affecting the intention to use open banking were examined with the meta-synthesis content analysis method. As a result of this examination, recommendations were made for both future studies and banks regarding the factors affecting the intention to use open banking applications of bank customers.
