Abstract (EN)

This study examines whether women working in the banking sector in Yozgat province are exposed to the glass ceiling syndrome. Despite having high levels of education an d Professional competence,it is a well - documented reality that women face various invisible barriers in accessing senior management positions. The glass ceiling syndrome encompasses a range of often-unnoticed biases and practices that stem from idividual, organizational, and societal factors, and which significantly impact women's career advancement. The thesis elaborates on the sources of these barriers encountered by women in their career development, discussing the historical evolution of women's role in the work force, their progression in managerial roles, and their current status. As part of the field research, a survey was conducted with female bank employees in Yozgat, and the collected data were analyzed to evaluate perceptions of the glass ceiling, feelings of injustice in promotion processes, and the overall impact on professional life. The findings reveal that a significant proportion of women believe they are subjected to glass ceiling barriers, which negatively affect their motivation, work efficiency, and career aspirations. Consequently, the study highlights the need for both individual and institutional strategies to facilitate women's Access to leadership positions.
