ABSTRACT ) MSc Thesis OXYGEN TRANSFER OF STEPPED SPILLWAYS Ertuğrul İLCİN Firat University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences Department of Civil engineering 2005, Page : 54 Over the last years, stepped spillways have regained popularity. The evolution of the roller compacted concrete (RCC) dam construction technique is the most important reason. Stepped spillways can be integrated into the downstream face of a RCC dam and use of stepped overlays on the downstream face of embankment dam as emergency spillways. This paper, oxygen transfer of the stepped spillways are examined. In this reason, over the lots of alternative, there were mading mony experiments. In this experiments, rectangular and trapeze sills are placed in the stepped on different forms.This study includes seven section. In the first section, introduction is presented and the aim of this study is explained. In the second section, summary of literature, third section gaz transfer, fourth section hydraulic of the stepped spillways, fifth section experimental setup are explained. In the sixth section, experiments are explained, according to abtained experimental results, graphs are plotted and explained. It was found the experimental results that stepped spillways with end sill have a signiticantly highest oxygen tranfer efficiency according to convensional spillways. Especially, In condition with end sill in one step and without end sill in the other step was obtained the heighest oxygen transfer values.
