Analysis of media-politic relation from ethical perspective in framework of press theories- Case of Turkey

In our day, when discussions over ethical matters are constantly made, it became more difficult to protect social values in the shade of commoditized values. Ethical principles that are the fundamentals of social personality are corrupted by media and the violation of values are normalised. Ethical problems are always observed in the area of politics and political components, about which public have the right to speak. However, recent intimacy between politics and media have misled and manipulated the society, which has caused structural changes in both areas. In political area, it can be seen that the government with the sanction power on media due to legal framework have used that power for certain purposes. In the field of media, capital groups have emerged as a power, and it has been witnessed that political components are used by these groups for the purpose of generating profit and advantage. In this study, relationship between political systems and media, which is the mainstay of press theories, is revealed and their instances in Turkey are mentioned. Moreover, the relationship between media and politics is analysed in terms of media ethics, and hypotheses which are made and their practical implications are explained on the basis of the news about Gezi Park Protests and Dec. 17 Bribery Investigations.
