Abstract (EN)

Antioxidants are the chemicals that help to prevent or stop cell injury caused by free radicals and carry vital importance for healthy body. Biological materials which investigated for radiation interaction are important for radiation physics and some courses. The atomic number of a composite material consisting of elements with different atomic numbers interacting with X or gamma radiation is characterized by a parameter called the "active atomic number". Effective atomic number of photon radiation interaction is necessary for many applications such as biological radiation, medical physics, radiograph and radiation dosimetry. In addition to characterizing the interaction of the substance with radiation, the effective atomic number has great importance in many different areas such as radiation biology, medical physics, radiography, and radiation dosimetry. In this study, the probability of gamma or x-ray interactions with 14 antioxidants which carry vital importance for the healthy body has been discussed for total photon interactions in the wide energy range of 1 keV–100 GeV using WinXCOM code. The effective atomic number and effective electron density were calculated with obtained results. Keywords: Antioxidants, , Effective atomic number, Electron density, Gamma and x-ray, Mass attenuation coefficient
