Determination of pathogenicity of some Bursaphelenchus species on pine and cedar seedlings under greenhouse conditions

In this study, the pathogenecities of four Bursaphelenchus species (B. mucronatus Mamiya and Enda, 1979, B. sexdentati Ruhm B. anamurius Akbulut, Braasch, Baysal, Brandstetter & Burgermeister, 2007, and B. vallesianus Braasch, Schönfeld, Polomski & Burgermeister, 2004) on pine (P. nigra Arnold, P. brutia Tenn. and P. pinea L) and cedar (Cedrus libani Rich.) seedlings under greenhouse conditions were investigated.Four Bursaphelenchus species had different degress of pathogenetic affects on pine seedlings. The most resistant seedling species was cedar.Based on the results of this study, it should be taken into consideration that four Bursaphelenchus species may affect natural or planted stands of P. nigra, P. brutia and P. pinea.
