Özet (EN)

The Schiff base ligands with sulphur, oxygen and nitrogen donor atoms in their structures act as good chelating agents for the transition metal ions. Coordination of Schiff bases with metal ions, such as copper, nickel and iron form stable metal complexes. Some Schiff bases with the donor atoms N3O, N2O2, N3S and N4 were prepared and characterized based on GC-MS, FT-IR, 1H and 13C NMR data. Cu (II), Ni (II) and Fe (II) complexes are prepared and characterized by FT-IR, magnetic properties and thermal analysis (TG-DTA). The thermal behavior of these chelates shows that the hydrated complexes losses water molecules of hydration in the first step followed immediately by decomposition of the ligand molecules in the subsequent steps. The effect of metal ion, donor atoms, structure of the ligands and coordination number of the complexes on the stability of the complexes are discussed.
