Abstract (EN)
The lavender plant, which is among the medicinal aromatic plants, is used in many areas today. Root-knot nematodes (RKNs) have been reported in lavender production areas, but there are limited studies on the reaction of them in lavender plants. It is predicted that root-knot nematodes may cause serious damage in production areas because of their biology. Therefore, knowing the response of RKNs in lavender will contribute to management and the development of resistant cultivars. In the present study, the reactions of some lavandin and lavender cultivars against Meloidogyne incognita S6 and M. arenaria Cr-1 isolates were studies. A total of 7 varieties were used in the experiment, namely Raya, Hebar, Munstead, Imperial gem, Giant Hidcote from the lavandin group, Silver and Grosso from the lavender group. For each lavender cultivar, 10 replicates were created according to random plots. Meloidogyne incognita and M. arenaria species at 1000 second stage juveniles (J2) inoculation levels were inoculated 3 weeks after planting on lavender plants. Lavenders were removed 60 days after nematode inoculation and the plant roots, were washed under tap water. The number of galls and egg masses formed in the roots and gall and egg mass indices were determined. In addition, the J2s in 100 g soil obtained from the pot of each plant were counted. In the result of the study, Giant Hidcote cultivar from lavender group and Grosso cultivar from lavandin group were determined to be resistant to M. incognita S6 and M. arenaria Çr-1 isolates.
