Abstract (EN)
The mutagenic effects of chemical substances cause cellular problems by disrupting the DNA molecule. Parabens have an important place in the chemical industry, especially in the food, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical industries. Molecular markers are used to determine genotoxic and mutagenic effects on DNA. In the current study, it was aimed to determine the genotoxic effect and DNA damage caused by ethylparaben and methyl paraben in Zea mays with ISSR and IRAP techniques, which are frequently used molecular marker methods. As a result of the study, it was determined that the GTS value decreased and the total polymorphism value increased due to the increase in ethyl and methylparaben doses in all primers used. It has been determined that DNA damage and genotoxic effect with increasing doses of ethyl and methyl paraben. Keywords: Ethyl Paraben, Genotoxicity, IRAP, ISSR, Methyl Paraben, Zea mays
