Abstract (EN)
In thesis, fifteen different structural semi lightweight concrete series that are classified as ?high strength class? were produced by using scoria and high-range-water-reducing admixture. The first aim of the research is to determine the numerical relation between production components, properties of concrete and crystal morphology of interfacial transition zone for these concretes. It is also aimed to supply the increasing usage of structural semi lightweight concretes for which scoria that is a natural aggregate is used instead of artificial lightweight aggregates for the economical and environmental benefit. In the direction of these aims; the properties of querying concretes were determined numerically by using standard experiment procedures and knowledge gained from previous researches. The numerical data about the production components were obtained by relating the volumetric ratios of aggregates and cement that were used in production. The crystal morphology of interfacial transition zones were queried by the biggest size of calcium hydroxide (portlandite) crystals, Scanning electron microscope images which were magnified ten thousand times were referred for these queries. The numerical data were obtained by determining the borders of crystals in these images using ?grain boundary determination? method for the specified queries. All numerical data were related by oven-dry density and compressive strength value which are two significant properties that were chosen as representative of the properties of concretes. In thesis, these properties used as benchmark and were related numerically by dual regressions at graphical trial series that were differentiating according to production components. The most of the numerical data obtained were related numerically at high correlation and it was concluded that high strength structural semi lightweight concretes can be produced by using scoria and can be used confidentially.
