Examination of the relationship among physical education and sports teachers' professional attitude, professional commitment and professional learning levels

In this study, it was aimed to examine the relationship between physical education and sports teachers' professional attitude, professional commitment and professional learning levels. The inclusion in this review, consists of a total of 849 physical education and sports teachers who are working at middle and high school levels in Hatay province. The sample of the study consists of 421 physical education and sports teachers who are selected according to the simple random sampling method, which is one of the probability sampling methods frequently used in quantitative research designs. As data collection tool, Personal Information Form provided by researcher, Attitude Scale towards Physical Education Teaching Profession developed by Ünlü (2011), Teaching Profession Engagement Scale developed by Yıldız and finally Teacher Vocational Learning Scale developed by Liu, Hallinger and Feng (2016) and adapted into turkish by Gumus et al. (2018) were used in the study. In the analysis of the research data, firstly, descriptive statistics such as frequency/percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation; normality test before CFA in order to determine the applicability of the expressions in the scales for confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) (skewness value 2, kurtosis value 7) and normal distribution test (Kolmogorov-Smirnov test) were used to decide on the analyzes to be applied to the independent variables. In the second stage, confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), which is measurement model test, Path analysis and reliability analysis were applied. In the third stage, t-test (Mann-Whitney U test), for pairwise comparisons, was used whereas analysis of variance (Kruskal Wallis-H test) was used for multiple comparisons The analyses conducted within the scope of the research were carried out using the IBM SPSS 22.0 and LISREL 8.7 software packages. According to the results of the research, it has been determined that there is a direct positive relationship between the professional attitudes of physical education and sports teachers' and their professional commitment and professional learning, a direct positive relationship between their professional commitment and professional learning, and an indirect positive significant relationship between their professional attitudes and professional learning through their professional commitment.
