Abstract (EN)

This thesis aims to comprehensively examine the philosophical thoughts, theoretical contributions and intellectual influences of Bedia Akarsu, who has a unique position in Turkish philosophy of the Republican period. The study focuses on Akarsu's basic views, especially in the fields of ethical philosophy, philosophy of language and contemporary philosophy; it provides an evaluation of the theoretical perspectives he developed in these areas within the framework of his interactions with important figures of German idealism such as Kant and Hegel. In the thesis, it is revealed that Akarsu's philosophical approach is shaped in parallel with the modernization and enlightenment ideals of the Republic and in this context brings sensitivity to social problems to the fore. It has been determined that the concepts of freedom, responsibility and universality play a central role in Akarsu's ethical understanding, as well as that he has made significant contributions to Turkish philosophical literature through his studies on values education and the Turkification of philosophical terminology. In addition, Akarsu's academic career and the effects of the German philosophical tradition that he encountered during his education were decisive in the formation of his intellectual perspective. While evaluating Akarsu's philosophical heritage, the thesis comprehensively discusses his original approach to contemporary philosophy, how he reinterprets the relationship of philosophy with society and education. As a result, the place and importance of Bedia Akarsu in Turkish philosophy are revealed in detail, the contributions of her intellectual productions to contemporary philosophical discussions are evaluated and a basis is created for future research. Keywords: Moral Philosophy, Existential Philosophy, Bedia Akarsu, Contemporary Philosophy, Ethical Philosophy
