Evaluation of the perspectives of people with low back pain on chiropractic treatment

The aim of the study is to determine the effect of musculoskeletal pain on physical activity in patients diagnosed with low back pain and to evaluate the perspectives on chiropractic treatment, which is the first step in the treatment protocol of musculoskeletal diseases, which has become more popular in our country in recent years. Forty patients who applied to the clinics in Hatay's Antakya district with the complaint of low back pain and accepted to participate voluntarily in the study were included in the study. The effects of the physical activity level of the patients on their daily lives and the evaluation of the perspectives of people with low back pain towards chiropractic treatment were determined by applying the "International Physical Activity Scale", "Oswestry Low Back Pain Scale" and "Assessment of Perspectives on Chiropractic Treatment" using the online questionnaire method. While 40% of the participants stated that they had knowledge about chiropractic treatment, 60% stated that they did not know. In the media where chiropractic treatment is seen, 25.0% is social media and 17.5% is the internet, while 57.5% answered none. The rate of those who state that chiropractic treatment will be applied by the chiropractor is 60.0%, those who state that it will be applied by the physiotherapist is 37.5%, and the rate of those who do not know by whom it will be applied is 2.5%. Participants stated that they thought that 57.5% of chiropractors had graduate degrees, 32.5% undergraduate degrees, and 10.0% doctorate degrees. While 15% of the participants stated that they had undergone chiropractic treatment before, 85.0% stated that they did not receive any treatment. Those who think that chiropractic treatment will be beneficial are 57.5%, those who are undecided about its benefits are 40.0%, and those who think that it will not be beneficial are 2.5%. In case of musculoskeletal pain, participants first apply to the Specialist/Family Physician (52.5%), while chiropractors are the second preferred medium with 35.0%.
