Abstract (EN)

BPPV is the most common peripheric vestibular system disorder. Canalolithiasis and cupulolithiasis are two accepted theories. Clinical importance of vestibular tests are known in BPPV. In our study cVEMP, oVEMP and vHIT findings of posterior canal BPPV were examined and changes by Epley maneveur in these tests were measured 36 patients with the diagnosis of posterior canal BPPV by Dix –Hallpike test (DHT) were included our study which was conducted in Dışkapı Yıldırım Beyazıt Educational Research Hospital, ENT Clinic. Control group was formed with 42 voluntary participants without othological and neurotoloygical disorder history. cVEMP, oVEMP ve vHIT were measured in both study and control group before treatment. Epley maneveur was applied to the study group after tests. Tests were reapplied to patients in whom recovery was observed after maneveur In cVEMP test; P1 and N1 wave latencies, P1N1 amplitudes and assymetry ratios between two ears were analyzed. In oVEMP test, latencies and amplitudes of N1 and P1 waves were measured. In vHIT, gain in effected posterior canal were compared to after treatment and normative data by use of infrared camera. In cVEMP test, when values before and after treatment were compared with control group, there was no significant differance P1 and N1 latencies. P1 – N1 amplitude, which was 84,75 μV before treatment and 89,64 μV after treatment, was significantly lower than P1-N1 amplitude in control group, which was 110,39 μV, (p<0.05). In oVEMP test, despite there was no differance in N1 latency, N1-P1 amplitüd and assymetry ratio between study and control group before and after treatment, a significant longation was observed in P1 latency, which was 14,59 ms before treatment and 15,11ms after treatment, (p<0.05). In vHIT; there was no significant change in gain values before and after treatment between study and control group. In order to measure vestibular rehabilitation success VEMP can be used as an assistive method but no additional information for supporting BPPV diagnosis and follow up was obtained in vHIT.
