Abstract (EN)
The aims of this thesis are to develop programs to obtain optimum designs for tall buildings with concrete filled steel tube composite columns, to provide literature with specific and innovative works, to encourage the usage of optimization process in designing composite structures, and to investigate the cost advantage of using composite columns compared to steel structures in tall buildings. For this purpose, algorithms have been developed to make the tall buildings with concrete filled steel tube composite columns the most profitable in terms of cost. With these algorithms, the social spider optimization (SSO) algorithm, which is a meta-heuristic method that has been successfully applied in structure optimization and proven to be effective, has been used. In the thesis study, where the design variables are determined as steel and composite sections, 10 design samples with 2 different forms each having 5 distinct stories have been developed in 3-dimensions. The design examples are optimally sized by the social spider optimization algorithm coded in the Fortran programming language. In this study, it has been found that the social spider optimization algorithm achieved success in obtaining optimum designs for tall buildings with concrete filled steel tube composite columns and that the composite designing of the columns reduces the construction cost in each of the structures with different heights.
