Abstract (EN)
One of our using methods to find tensile strength of concrete is Brazilian Splitting Test. In split tests, material and size effect of concrete effect test?s results significiantly. Although studies are availabe about split-sylindric test of concrete in literatures, stuidies are not enough about split-cubic test. It is aimed to make connections between the material and size effect on the tensile strength of concrete on cubic splitting and especially on the strentgh of pressure which are based on statistics. Mechanical strength results of concrete are related to the type of aggregate, the maximum diameter of aggregate, and the water/cement ratio; and the splitting tensile strength is related to the size of piecement, the ratio of the width of bearing split to the size of piecement, the thickness of the bearing strip, and material of the bearing strip. In addition to this, decreaeses in mechanical strength results are observed with every increase on the size of piecement of concrete, and this is the size effect of concrete in fracture mechanic. When all of these are taken into consideration, on the first step, for the strength of concrete on split-cubic, it is aimed to show the design criteria, which are only based on material parameters. Aggregate having diffirent intervals of diameters are prepared for these experiments. Series, which have dmax=4mm, 8mm, 16mm and 32mm are prepared in four diffirent groups. From each of these series, nine cubic piecements (150x150x150mm) are prepared. CEM I 42,5 N is used as cement in piecements. On the second step, with concrete mixtures having the maximum aggregate diameter of 4, 8, 16 mm; a research was made on 50, 100, 200 mm piecements according to The Size Effect Law and Modified Size Effect Law approaches on the strength of concrete on split-cubic test. Several types of molds are prepared and used for these experiments. As a result of experimental studies, a change on the strength of concrete on split-cubic by the effect of material and size effent is observed and results are shown on tables. Keywords: Concrete, Splitting Test, Size Effect, Size Effect Law, Tensile Strength of Concrete.
