Teaching "mitosis and meosis division" subjects in unit "generation and evolution in living beings" by computer supported education system and developing material related to this

This experimental research investigated the effects of computer assited instructionthtraditional instruction on the 8 grade students science achievement in the topic of mitosis andmeosis dividing.An education CD is prepared for the process of computer supported education. The CDincludes the presentation of powerpoint. This presentation is formed by mitosis and meosis dividinganimations. In addition, there is some animations in the CD which are taken from websites to makethe subject more clear.Research has been conducted during the first and second semesters of 2004-2005 with100 eight grade students attending. Özel Erol Altaca lköğretim Okulu and kbaliye lköğretim Okulu.Students have been seperated in to experiment and control groups in each of the schools; andwhile the control groups have been taught by traditional methods, the experiment groups have beentaught using the computer supported education method. The subject success test (pre-test andpost-test), composed of ÖSYM- originated questions, has been achieved by the trial with Anova ofththe results of the analysis of the 7 grade science class grades and the variance analysis of thesubject success test (pre-test).At he end of the application, the control and experiment groups were once again given(as post-test) the subject success test (that they were given as pre-test). The significance of thedegree of variation of the results of the two groups has been decided by the t test in addition, theKay Square test was used to assess whether or not the questions asked by students during classeshad any relation with their level of learning. The question of computer supporred education havingthe effect of raising motivation levels in students was assessed giving place to the students in theclass.At the completion of the application, the conclusion that the experiment group whitreceived computer supported education achieved a significantly higher degree of success th thecontrol group which received traditional education, and that the computer support education methodraised the raised the concentration of the students, has been reached.
