Assessment of usability of the technical proficiencies of computer teachers in working environments

The objective of this research is to assess the usability of the technical proficiencies of computer teachers in working environments.The screening procedure has been utilized in this research.The research population is computer teachers graduated from Computer and Instructional Technologies Teaching departments in Turkey. 581 individuals having e-mails located in the central database of Ministry of National Education have been reached through their e-mails in the research. 207 of the teachers are participated in a survey formed in four sections and applied through Internet. Research data have been analyzed using arithmetic mean, standard deviation and percentage.As a result of this research the following results have been obtained:The teachers are determined to have most of the proficiencies regarding the technological concepts and applications, the design of learning environments, and the fields of learning, teaching, program and professional development.The reason for non-usage of technical proficiencies owned by the teachers is usually determined to be the inadequate technological infrastructure in the school.In this research, the data are retrieved using a survey. Elaborating the case for teachers in different branches using other methods, i.e. observation and conversation in future researches shall supplement to the related literature and applications.
