Abstract (EN)

In this research, it is aimed to determine the effect of online workshops associated with science center exhibitions on the conceptual understanding levels of secondary school students about density. Convergent parallel design, one of the mixed research methods, was used in the research. The sample of the research consists of 19 seventh grade students studying at different secondary schools in the 2020-2021 academic year and willing to participate in the study voluntarily. Two-Stage Conceptual Comprehension Test and Word Association Test were used as data collection tools. In the analysis of quantitative data, SPSS statistical package program was used and dependent samples t-test was performed. In the analysis of qualitative data, besides content analysis, frequency (f) and percentage (%) distributions were used. As a result, it was determined that the online workshops associated with the science center exhibitions, positively affected the students' conceptual understanding levels. It was concluded that the students formed more scientific sentences after the application, their misconceptions decreased, and they established more strong and meaningful relationships between the concept of density and the concepts of mass, volume, floating, sinking and distinctive feature.
