Music articles in scientific journals bibliometric profile

The aim of this study is to evaluate the bibliometric characteristics of the musical articles published in scientific journals ( i.e. e-journals, university journals and publishing concerns) in Turkey between 2000 and 2007.The study is designed as a descriptive screening model. The data is collected from the university libraries and archives and web searches. The number of authors, publishing dates and citation frequencies of the articles; and the journals which the articles were published were evaluated. The analysis were conducted through by a commercial statistics program (SPSS 13,0). The data was interpreted according to the results of analysis expressed as frequencies, percentages and means.Two hundred seven articles were evaluated. The authors who wrote most were established. It has been established that most of the articles were written by a single author. There was an increment on the literature on musics and the frequency of their citation within last years. The number of references used in each article was between 3 to 9; which books were the most citated group. Additionally the most frequently citated authors were also defined.This article demonstrates the bibliographic profiles of the musical articles published between 2000 and 2007 in Turkey.Key Words: Music, Bibliometric, Citation, Scientific Article,Music Articles
