Abstract (EN)

Lots of fundamental changes have been faced in many fields of our daily life with the widespread use of information systems. Although changes through technology have fairly simplified our social life it has also caused some security problems as well. Technology has made it easy to commit crime, and has also brought about cyber-crime. In this study, the statistical data about cyber-crimes in Turkey was analyzed; the most committed crime types and the techniques used in these crimes were defined. As the mostly committed crime types, credit card and debit card forgery and fraud are explained in detail with their crime techniques. In order to be able to analyze cyber-crimes from the views of both criminals and probable victims, the attitudes of university students towards cyber-crimes are analyzed, and the opinions of cyber criminals were studied. As a result, a few advices about the needed precautions and the ways to increase the level of social and institutional awareness in this struggle against cyber-crimes were given.
