Abstract (EN)

The general aim of this research is to examine school administrators' views on the concept of innovation based on the knowledge of information technology (IT) teachers. A purposive sampling method, specifically criterion sampling, was used to determine the study group. The study group consists of 22 Information Technologies Teachers working in schools affiliated with the Artvin Provincial Directorate of National Education. The research was conducted using a qualitative research method with a phenomenological approach. Data were collected through interviews. A semi-structured interview form titled "School Administrators' Innovation Competencies," prepared by the researchers, was used to interview 22 IT teachers. The findings indicate that although IT teachers contribute to innovations in the field of IT, some school administrators still prefer traditional methods. Additionally, it was determined that IT teachers define innovation in terms of integration, adaptation, meeting needs, and efficient learning. They also emphasized that school administrators should actively participate in and lead the innovation process, equip schools with technological tools, and provide financial and logistical support for innovative projects. The research also found that school administrators generally support innovative projects, strive to create a culture of innovation in their schools, provide technology and digitalization support, and contribute to the professional development of teachers. According to IT teachers, ideal school administrators should have an open mindset toward innovation and change, encourage these processes, and act as visionary leaders by creating and supporting efficient, technology-based learning environments.
