Determination of the validity, reliability and sensitivity of the cognitive exercise therapy approach scale in patients with a diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis

This study was planned to determine the validity, reliability and sensitivity of the Cognitive Exercise Therapy Approach (Bilişsel Egzersiz Terapi Yaklaşımı-BETY) scale in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). 150 patients were included in the study. The Health Assessment Questionnaire (HAQ), Rheumatoid Arthritis Quality of Life Scale (RAQoL), Short Form-36 (SF-36) and Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) were used for validity of the BETY Scale. The correlation of BETY scale with other scales was found between r = -0.361 and 0.814, p <0.001. The test-retest method and intraclass coefficients (ICC) were used for reliability. The correlation between the responses of 30 patients to the BETY Scale for 1 week (r = 0.834, p <0.001) and ICC coefficient (0.833, p <0.001) were significantly high. The Cronbach alpha coefficient (0.937) was also used for internal consistency and the internal consistency of the scale was very high. For the sensitivity of the scale, the correlation of the differences of the BETY Scale with all scales was checked after 3 months and it was highly correlated with RAQoL (r = 0.619, p <0.001). It was concluded that the patients involved in the BETY group being routinely made for 3 months were susceptible to change. As a result of our study, it was concluded that the BETY Scale is a valid, reliable and sensitive assessment tool for RA patients.
