Abstract (EN)

In this study, oxidative stress was investigated in renal failure patients, as well as, the effect of dialysis operation on oxidative stress by measuring the lipid peroxidation biomarker, MDA, pre- and post-dialysis in the same patients. The study was controlled with healthy people on similar ages to avoid its influence on the clinical data. The level of MDA was increased significantly in renal failure patients compared to control. Furthermore, the patients with renal failure patients post-dialysis have shown significant increase in the level of MDA compared to the same patients pre-dialysis. Additionally, the levels of urea, creatinine, TGs, LDL, and VLDL were increased significantly in renal failure patients compared to control. GFR and HDL were reduced significantly in renal failure patients compared to control. In renal failure patients pre-dialysis, MDA was correlated positively with TGs and VLDL. In conclusion, dialysis operation results in increasing lipid peroxidation and oxidative stress in people with renal failure disease.
