Abstract (EN)

Ibn Receb el-Hanbelî (d. 795/1393) was a multi-faceted scientist who has had great contributions to Islamic thought. with his works and ideas on various fields of Islamic sciences. Having lived during 8th century of the Islamic calendar, Ibn Receb is known as one of the most prominent members of the Islamic world and the Hanbeli sect. He was a prolific author who wrote mainly about hadith in addition to Islamic law, kalam, observance, and history. In addition to these sciences, Ibn Receb was also an authority when it comes to interpretation. His esteemed works on interpretation are comprised of small booklets in which a couple of short suras. His explanations regarding interpretation are mostly seen in his other works. Ebû Muaz Târık b. Ivâzillâh b. Muhammed compiled Ibn Recep's explanations on interpretation found in close to fifty of his works in his interpretation called Ravâiu't-tefsîr el-Câmi' li't-Tefsîri'l- İmam İbn Receb el-Hanbelî. It is not known whether Ibn Receb el-Hanbeli had an independent work on Quran sciences. In addition, preamble of the work called Ravâiu't-tefsîr attributed to the author does not include any information pertaining to "ulûmü'l-Kur'ân". This raises the question of what Ibn Receb, an important glossator, thought about Quran sciences and how he used these sciences while interpreting verses. Thus, we have included Ibn Receb's life, his scholarly personality, and the work called Ravâiu't-tefsir which is attributed to him in order to uncover his approach towards Quran sciences. This way, we will examine Ravâiu't-tefsîr and uncover the manner in which Quran sciences were handled in Ravâiu't-tefsîr and the place and importance of this work in the history of interpretation through analysis and synthesis based on our findings.
