Erkal Yavi̇ (As adesigner)

This thesis aims to identify the importance of providing opportunity to a precious artist, who devotes a lifetime to graphic design and makes a great effort through long ages, to transform his life and works into the literature and to get to his just place in art history. Yavi, with his intellectuality and sophistication, is also closely interested in art of photography and gets a significant place in social memory via his book cover, poster, magazine and catalogue designs. Yavi is a pioneer artist, who creates unique works on various fields of art by using different materials; leads the way and becomes a reference for fresh designers with his identity as a great contributor of graphic arts. This thesis aims to reveal the knowledge behind his works and provide information for the artists and artist nominees by the interview which has done with Erkal Yavi personally and the broad researches about his artworks and life. This thesis is semibiographical and tackled by Erkal Yavi's artworks, his perspective on art and the contributions to the Turkish graphic arts as well as memoirs of Yavi's life story.
