Determination of burnout levels of academic staffs, research asistants and nurses in a university hospital and factors affecting it

Aim: In this study, academic staff, research assistants and nurses working aimed to determine the burnout levels in the university hospital. Aim of this study is to identify research to what level it affects the sub-factors of burnout, the socio-demographic characteristics affecting the burnout, the characteristics of the work structure and the characteristics of the working environment affected experienced by the personnel. Method: The Maslach burnout scale and the socio-demographic data form were applied to 300 people who agreed to participate in the research between August-November 2017 at the Health Application and Research Center of Zonguldak Bulent Ecevit University. Statistical analysis was performed by the SPSS 19.0 program. Findings: Of the 300 participants who participated in the study, 185 (% 61.7) were female and 115 were male (% 38.3). Participants were between 19-57 years of age and their average age was 31.83 (SD=6.941). Those who participated in this study were achieve to difference in burnout levels among the age, gender, profession, marital status, having a child, frequency of participation in social activity, living alone, duration of working period, satisfaction with the workplace, daily working time, collegiality, sufficiency of salaries and the possibility of being able to move to upper position in the institution However, there were no statistically significant results in terms of the with working area, administrative duties, frequent place of work (policlinic / service), use of variable the smoking and alcohol (p> 0.05). Results:It is known that burnout syndrome is a serious problem in health professional. According to our research results, participants' age, gender, marital status, profession, professional satisfaction, with workplace, colleagues and superiors, professional experience and participation in social activities significantly affects burnout levels. Our research results support existing scientific literature with the subject. Improving working conditions of health professional and lower burnout scores will be beneficial for both health professional and receiving health care.
